Simeon encountered Angel O'Day and her father Dr. Theo O'Day, who were traveling in Africa. Impressed by a talking gorilla they agreed to let him join them back to the bright lights of New York.

Simeon worked for a time as a comics artist and frequently joined O'Day on her cases as a private investigator. The two eventually joined forces full time, investigating cases involving the super-human community as O'Day and Simeon Private Investigators also known as Angel and the Ape.
