Recovering after being incapacitated in a battle with Bane and regaining his mantel from Azrael, Batman's former ward and sidekick temporarily took over his mentor's role as Batman.

After the death of Batman at the hands of Darkseid, there was a battle between different factions of Gotham City heroes and villains for control of the city, with the Caped Crusader's first sidekick assuming the role of Gotham's protector - the Batman.
