Known Powers

Normal human with Green Lantern Ring enhanced abilities granting the wielder the ability to create forms and devices of green energy from their imagination, transmute materials, phase through solid objects, become invisible, fly at supersonic speeds; achieve superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, immunity to harsh environments and an ability to communicate with all known sentient species.

Extremely imaginative person with training as an artist.

Note: The imprisonment within the Central Power Battery of Parallax - a yellow being composed of pure fear - created an impurity making Green Lantern Rings incapable of manipulating objects colored yellow, and the champions of the Guardians of the Universe, the Green Lanterns, susceptible to the only thing that could break their will - fear.

Due to the release of Parallax from the Main Power Battery, Kyle Rainer's ring has no such impurity and is not vulnerable to the color yellow.

With few exceptions the Power Ring is limited to a 24 hour charge and must be recharged in the Power Battery on a daily basis.

Note: When serving as the host of Ion - the living embodiment of willpower, Kyle Rayner does not require a Green Lantern Ring and holds an elite position within the Green Lantern Corps.

After the destruction of Coast City by the alien conqueror Mongul and villainous Cyborg, Hal Jordan (Green Lantern II), maddened with grief was driven to rage against the seemingly indifferent Guardians of the Universe.

Jordan's quest for vengeance pitted him against his former allies in the Green Lantern Corps, many of which he callously killed to reach his goal. To protect the Central Power Battery on Oa, the Guardians chose a living host, Ganthet, as the repository of their energies.

Jordan destroyed the Central Power Battery, and apparently the inhabitants of Oa. Ganthet fled to Earth because of its history of great heroes. Weakened and desperate he offered the ring to the first person he found and disappeared after a few cryptic words. Placing the ring on his hand, Kyle Rayner was transformed.

Initially Rayner was uncertain in his use of the power ring, but with a vivid imagination and the help of his Justice League allies and longtime Green Lantern Alan Scott, he has followed in the footsteps of a proud and glorious history of a Green Lantern.
