Jonah Hex was born to brutal drunkard and his long-suffering wife. A series of miseries began in Hex's life when after his mother left, his father took the boy west during the California gold rush and sold him as a slave to an Apache chief in exchange for animal pelts. Hex would later go on to be betrayed by the Apache chief's son, shot by bounty hunters, join the Confederate Army only to be imprisoned and finally return to his Apache tribe to be disfigured after a trial of combat with the chief's son. Although constantly betrayed and grossly disfigured Hex persevered in fighting against crime by using his skills to become one of the old west greatest bounty hunters. |
