Origin

Infiltrating an eastern European crime syndicate known as CYCLOPS, Urania Blackwell unwisely fell in love with and married the criminal leader known as Stingaree.

Spurned by her criminal lover, Blackwell volunteered to be exposed to the Orb of Ra therefore repeating the process that transformed Rex Mason.

Becoming an elemental being, Blackwell code-named herself Element Girl and recruited Metamorpho's assistance in destroying CYCLOPS.

Although she had a limited career as an adventurer, Blackwell felt isolated and became depressed about her appearance. She had attempted suicide on several occasions but due to her transformation was virtually immortal.

Eventually Death heard Blackwell's call for release, and although she could not grant her wish she convinced the Egyptian god Ra to end the misery of Metamorpha.
