After service during World War II, Anthony "Buck" Rogers returned home to a job as an army engineer. While surveying the low levels of an abandoned mine, Rogers was cutoff from the surface by a cave-in. Succumbing to a curious radioactive gas, Rogers was cast into a state of suspended animation which preserved his body until he was revived by fresh air five hundred years later in the 25th Century.
