Origin

Born into a Japanese immigrant family in San Francisco, Tommy Arashikage had a secret lineage, that of the assassins called ninja. Joining the dojo of his uncles the "Hard Master" and the "Soft Master," Arashikage excelled in the art of Ninjitsu earning the title of the "Young Master." Taking his skills as far as he could in the dojo, Arashikage joined the U.S. Army specializing in long range recon patrol. His masters saw the Young Master's time in the military as a graduate school.

While in the military Arashikage served with the man known as Snake-Eyes. After Snake-Eye's family died in an auto accident, Arashikage offered him an opportunity to join the ninja clan, an offer he eventually accepted. While learning at the ninja dojo, Cobra Commander sent two assassins, Zartan and Firefly to kill Snake-Eyes, but the Hard Master was mistaken for Snake-Eyes and killed with an arrow stolen from Arashikage.

Knowing that he would be blamed for the death of his master, Arashikage fled the dojo and clandestinely joined the ranks of Cobra with the intent of exacting his revenge as the deadly Storm Shadow.
