Although a practiced and excellent gunman, Blaine Colt refused to wear a sidearm in public for fear that his temper would cause him to kill another person. Lash Larribee, a local outlaw leader, muscled all the local ranchers into paying him tribute except for Blaine's father Dan Colt. The Colts were driven from their ranch and Dan Colt who later confronted Larribee was gunned down. In a rage Blaine Colt confronted his father's killer and sent him to his grave. One of Larribee's henchmen claimed to the local sheriff that Colt shot Larribee in cold blood. Fearing reprisal from a corrupt lawman, Colt fled town to live life as an outlaw called Kid Colt. |
