The daughter of a doctor, Linda Carter pursued a nursing career which lead to her interning at Metropolitan General Hospital in New York City. While a student nurse she fell in love with wealthy businessman, Marshall Michaels. When Michaels forced her to choose her medical career or marriage to him, Carter chose a life of medicine.
After becoming a registered nurse, Carter served with a tight group of nurses on the night shift; encountering a series of dramatic adventures.
At some point in her career, Carter's life was saved by a masked vigilante, which inspired her to serve the superhuman community in her private medical practice as the Night Nurse.
