Origin

In a parallel dimension Sidney De'ath and his fellow Judges reasoned that life creates disorder and thus crime and that the only way to eliminate crime is to eliminate life creating a Deadworld.

When dimension-traveling visitors chanced upon Deadworld and the Dark Judges, they were "judged" and their equipment was used by one Judge to escape a lifeless world and administer justice in Mega-City One as Judge Death.
